Ansh Gala | Week 15: I'm Speed
“Speed. I’m speed.” Those were the first words I remember hearing when I was little. The first ever real movie I ever watched. Cars. Lightning McQueen came rushing around the race track, and I was hooked. The wonderful animated story of a car learning that friendship and humility trump pride in every challenge we face. But it was more than that. It was the story of a racer achieving his potential. It was about a car going “quicker than quick, faster than fast.”
Now, there are a few reasons why this movie is so amazing. First of all, the movie is literally about cars. They all look so cool and having personalities just made them even cooler. Secondly, the friendship between Mater and McQueen was any child’s dream. They contrasted so well when they had to, and the rest of the time they were a duo to be reckoned with. And of course, the racing.
The Piston Cup. Probably the only award I cared about for the first part of my life. It was not just a trophy, it was a symbol of a car who was able to prove himself as a better person, who wins by uplifting the people around him.
This movie will always have a special place in my heart. My love for cars, my love for racing, and my love for speed are all because of Lightning McQueen. Even when I rewatch the movie, probably once a month now, I always feel like I am watching it for the first time, eager to see whether McQueen wins the Piston Cup.
Hi Ansh! I love the tone of this blog: light-hearted yet reflective. You were able to successfully connect this childhood movie with important values like friendship and potential. I never realized the presence of the lessons woven into "Cars" among the racing and top-notch humor. I also really liked your description of the Piston Cup as a symbol of winning by uplifting others. It is definitely a message that Pixar was trying to convey. It's also cool that you watch "Cars" around once a month now; I do that with movies like "Frozen" and "Trolls!" Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Ansh! Cars has to be one of my most favorite movies. This movie was the first ever pixar movie I ever watched and I do not regret it. Seeing the red car with the lighting bolt on it’s paint just out a smile on my face. Now as a kid I was always interested in cars, and this movie and made my love for cars stronger. Seeing the second part of cars and the third part as well just made me look at my past and see how much I have changed over time. Watching the first cars movie I was around two years old and fast forward to the last cars movie I was nine years old. Now hopefully pixar listens to there fans about the demand for another cars movie, because if they do release the movie, then it might just be the greeted pixar movie ever.
ReplyDeleteHi Ansh! You have brought back so many memories for me! Cars was my brother's and I favorite movie! The ending gets me till this day, and that determination my Lightning McQueen is so inspirational. Just every part of that movie makes you want to smile. I usually always have something in the background when I'm studying, (movie, podcast, etc), and thank you for reminding me for this! I started watching this movie when I I turned 6, which was the 6 year anniversary of the movie, and I still remember to this date, our local movie theater was hosting the anniversary, so I actually watched it for the first in the theaters. Which one do you like better, one or two. Personally, the first one can not be beaten, it was amazing. I also actually just recently went to Disneyland, and to see everything come to life, the cars scene, radiator springs, was amazing. Just brings back so many memories. The ending of the disneyland ride, for the pixon cap, always gets everyone so excited as well. Just like you, that movie will always have a huge special place in my heard. Ansh, I loved reading your blog, it brought back amazing memories, and maybe one of these days, let's the watch the movie together.
ReplyDeleteHi Ansh,
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice tribute to Cars, I like the way you began your blog through the perspective of your younger self. It adds an additional reminiscent touch to the overall tone, making your connection to the movie appear even more personal and authentic. The way you describe the characters, especially the bond between Mater and Mcqueen, shows how deeply they resonated with you. Reading your blog made me also reflect on how grateful I also am to have grown up with stories that have left such lasting impressions. You did a great job capturing the passion you had for this movie.
