Raghav Sharma Week #12 - Power of A Teacher
A teacher is more than just an educator, they are a guide, mentor, and source of inspiration. A teacher's power is not just the lessons they teach, but how they are able to make the student's heard, seen, and valued. And for many, that means so much to them. I want you to think back to a teacher who changed your life. They could have encouraged you to do something when you felt like giving up; or saw something you were special at even before you saw it. Any teacher, has the ability to shape a student's confidence with a word of praise or even just a smile.
In 3rd grade, I was the quiet kid in school; can you believe that? I raised my hand in class very few times, and really only talked to my friends. I was kind of just there in the back of the class, until Mrs. Palmer noticed me. She was the teacher who made everyone feel welcome, and made you feel important. She had, what I like to call it, a superpower, to easily make a ordinary "random" memory into a special one. Whether it was the way she read us stories on the carpet, or the notes she left us on Monday mornings, she always made you feel special.
Mrs. Palmer actually got me into writing blogs, she always told me that she loved to read my creative writing, and my blogs that I write outside of school are about day in the life's, with a special twist. ( If you ever want to read my blog, I would love to sign you up on the website). A funny memory which always gets me in before I left for Junior High School. I promised her I would get her a Tesla when I'm older, so now I have to make that dream into a reality.
A teacher is really a magician with a magical wand, and can change the lives of students in make them achieve their goals with perfection.
Hi Raghav! This is a great way to end Quarter 3 Blogs! Mrs. Palmer definitely sounds like the dream teacher. She clearly cares more than ever about her students and their futures. I love how you describe her "superpower" to easily make an ordinary, random memory into a special one. I also enjoyed what you said about a teacher being a magician with a magic wand. Thank you for sharing this blog! Also, keep saving up to get that Tesla and fulfill your promise!
ReplyDeleteHey Raghav! I completely agree with you about a teacher being a mentor and a source of inspiration. I hear many teens these days complaining about a teacher giving them a lot of homework or even things to study, but what these individuals do not realize is that the teachers are pushing these students to have a successful life. An example of this can be Mr. Baker, the AP Biology teacher. He makes teaching ten times better by making concepts related to his life. He talks about many of his own life experiences that he had, and he explains it in a way that the student can understand what the particular topic is. Despite this, many students still do not pay attention in his class, but for the ones that do, it make Mr. Baker is extremely happy. He also pushes me and others to work harder and harder so that our future is built for success.
ReplyDeleteHey Raghav! Last blog of the quarter and great way to end it. I loved this topic and I love the way in which you incorporated personal experiences within your writing to enhance the idea of teachers being a great force of change in the minds of the readers. I too can relate to the idea of how the right person, not necessarily a teacher, can mentor us and guide us on to different paths. Thus, a mentor like this serves as a great power and motivation in our life, allowing us to latch on to the help and encouragement of others to flourish in our own endeavors.
ReplyDeleteHi Raghav,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a heartfelt and touching reflection on the power of teachers, Mrs. Palmer sounds like one of those rare teachers who actually see students as individuals. I liked the details you mentioned, such as the notes she left you and her ability to make everyone feel included. I have been fortunate enough to know what you’re talking about as I have had a teacher similar to Mrs. Palmer when I was younger who can do exactly that, it is incredibly important to cherish these amazing individuals that inspired our younger selves. Your promise of a Tesla to your teacher was also hilarious to read and very sweet, it just shows how much she really meant to you. Reading your blog brought me nostalgia and happy reminiscence, thank you for sharing!
Hi Raghav! Your blog made me reflect on all the mentors and teachers that have had a positive impact on me. It made me realize how lucky I am to have experienced these positive relationships, and learned from teachers who have helped me become a better person and student. I completely agree with you, that teachers have a lot of power to shape our lives positively. They are a very important part of our community, and they are also often taken for granted. I liked that your blog acknowledged their positive influence on people, and your personal experiences with Mrs. Palmer was really inspiring to read about. Your metaphor of a teacher being like a magician at the end of the blog was really impactful, and helped highlight your main point about the power teachers can have really nicely. Overall, I really enjoyed reading your blog!
